Back to St George Day Saturday
It’s on again - This Saturday (19th May, 2018) against the old rivals Gordon RUFC. 1st grade will be playing in the old St George jerseys – with 21st century modifications.
First grade kicks off at 3.00pm but there are hours of matches prior to then. 4th grade commences at 10.50 – one for the early birds.
With First Grade coming off a great win it’s a great opportunity to get down to Forshaw and re-live the glory days while watching the current crop of lads do the St George jersey proud.
For those that may not know their great heritage, they were founded in 1906. Below is the first ever squad to represent St George District Rugby Union. Included in the picture are Wallaby no. 37 Harold Judd and Wallaby no. 93 Danny Carroll. The club operated until 1915 before disbanding during WW1. The club reformed in 1928 thanks to Judd who coached 1st Grade.
St George continued until the formation of Southern Districts, a total of 23 Wallabies played for the club. This Saturday we celebrate all those who represented this great district of Rugby!
