Vs Easts At Home - Colts Update
The past month has been bit of a stop start period with a week off then a game v Parramatta then a bye and then Wests and it was obvious in 2nd and 1st Colts games last week that we were rusty and it took till half time to get back into stride and start getting the cohesion expected at this time into the season.
Initially our defence was poor but picked up as the games progressed and it was a credit to the players attitude and scrambling defence to keep a powerful Wests group to only 1 try in the 2 games. With only 5 games left in the regular season there cannot be any slip ups and it has to be full focus on training, match day preparation and the food eaten leading up to game day
Remember its all about the extra 1% efforts.
This week we play Easts at Forshaw and redemption is the challenge to all 3 sides after Easts clean sweep of victories in the first round at carpet city Woollahra oval. There new Astro turf was interesting and maybe playing on grass could be our home ground advantage at Fort Forshaw.
Currently 3rd Colts are just outside the top 6 and 2nd Colts are 6th and 1st Colts are 2nd so its must win games for all plus the added bonus of moving into 4th or possibly 3rd in the Colts Club Championship. This would be a great reward for the Colts groups efforts since we started training late October.
We are now getting to the end of the regular season and we want as a deserving reward a spot in the finals for all 3 sides and a crack at winning a premiership but this takes dedication, commitment and strength of character and we need to show this Saturday against Easts who are a well performing Colts group that we posses these qualities and that we make our beds.
3rds need to set the bar with a strong and statement setting display. I have said before that there is a very good team hidden away in 3rds and now is the time to show that i am correct.
2nds have done well recently and clawed there way from a dire spot where it looked like the season was done and dusted but are now in 6th spot and have control over their destiny and its a very simple equation
Keep winning, bonus points are not crucial but win points are and to win against the sides we still have to play we need to play good rugby of the back of a strong forward laid platform and then let the backs bring it home.
One thing is guaranteed, it will be exciting nail biting rugby.
1sts after a mixed start are now 2nd on the table and playing some very good rugby.
Well led by Nathan Lawson they have really stepped up to the plate in controlled aggressive and high paced skilful rugby.
If you have not had a day at Forshaw watching Colts you are certainly missing a great days entertainment and its free entry to the ground.
Best value in town!
The next 5 weeks are going to be huge with everything riding on results and we need to bring our boots and attitude and play for the jumper and everything else will look after itself.
We control our destiny so if we fail we can only blame ourselves. This week we say farewell to our Belgium import star Victor Andre who is returning home to start Uni and back to his club rugby Victor has been a great addition to Colts and a new Favourite Son.
With any game at Forshaw our biggest advantage are our supporters and we hope to have another large team of supporters to enjoy the day and cheer on the teams.
