With women’s rugby in Australia seeing substantial and continued growth in participation since Australia’s gold medal heroics at the 2016 Olympic Games, the acquisition of Workplace Law to the Rebelettes 7s program is a ground-breaking step for Southern Districts, given it is the first time a sponsor has aligned specifically with the club’s women’s team.
The timing of the partnership was ideal for the Rebelettes. Hot off the back of consecutive finals wins in the Scone Women’s 7s Tournament in November 2018 and recently taking out the prestigious Lake Macquarie 7s in late February, the side headed off to compete in one of the world’s most prestigious tournaments, the Borneo 7s, where they took home silver.
Rebelettes 7s Head Coach Chris Nay believes Workplace Law is exactly the right partner for the team. “Workplace Law is a fantastic addition to both the Southern Districts and Rebelettes 7s rugby family. To have our team now aligned with such a leading and progressive organisation, clearly looking to make a positive change and difference is a huge step in the right direction. The girls have worked super hard to build a culture and this partnership is a just reward for how they have handled themselves both on and off the field- they were ecstatic with the announcement.” said Nay.
“We are delighted to have the support of Workplace Law and look forward to working with them throughout the season” Nay continued.
