SDRC Pathway Development Manager
MEDIA RELEASE:
Brett Gallagher Appointed SDRC Pathway Development Manager
Southern Districts Rugby Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Brett Gallagher to the position of Pathway Development Manager. The Southern Districts community will be familiar with Brett from his previous role as club General Manager and current Colts Head Coach. We have moved to secure our first Pathway Development Manager to align with the club’s vision to be recognised as having the best club pathway program (from juniors to schools, through to seniors) and the strongest rugby club in NSW.
With over 20 years of professional rugby experience, including working as a Development Officer with the Western Force and NSW Rugby, Brett brings a wealth of knowledge and commitment to the growth of rugby union in the catchment area which includes St George, Botany Bay, Sutherland Shire, Illawarra, Macarthur, Southern Highlands and South Coast.
Brett’s responsibilities will include developing existing and establishing new rugby union pathways to Southern Districts in our local and wider catchment areas, specifically targeting secondary schools, high schools and colleges. Additionally, Brett will oversee, grow and evolve existing Junior Academy programs and work to create new playing pathways and competitions within the greater region primarily at high school and college level.
Brad Devine, SDRC President said, “Southern Districts has a proud tradition of developing young people into very good rugby players, and outstanding young men and women. There is no one more qualified, on both fronts, to lead this work across the region than Brett Gallagher. His experience and passion for this work is unparalleled, and he is motivated to make a difference for our rugby community”.
Brett has a great affinity for the local region as a resident and former long-standing coach in our junior ranks and on behalf of Southern Districts, we are extremely excited to work alongside Brett.
Brett will commence official duties on Friday 19 February 2021.
