Round 10 Grade Vs Penrith Round Up
An abbreviated report this week. Grade headed to the mountains for our round against Penrith. Some very solid performances throughout the grades and I am certain the bus trip home would have given many the opportunity to embellish some of those performances. 1st Grade – Souths 87 (Teki 5, Connolly, Vasoyaco, Roos, Smart, Perez, Nay, Walton, Latunipulu Tries – Saifoloi 9, Teki, Wessels Conversions) – Penrith 12 Lower Grades 2nd Grade – Souths 54 – 12 Penrith 3rd Grade – Souths 88 – 0 Penrith 4th Grade – Souths 31 – 5 Penrith Notable Contributions: No, that is not a typo error. Matt Teki came off the bench in 1st Grade and scored 5 tries. This goes with the one he scored in 2nd grade. He also contributed 8 from 9 with the boot for a personal tally of 46 points on the day. We will check the archives, but I reckon that has to be close to a record for the club. Club stalwart Michael Osmond made 1st Grade run-on debut. Colts 1st Grade – Souths 50 – 7 Penrith 2nd Grade – Souths 95 – 0 Penrith 3rd Grade – Souths 51 – 0 Penrith Obviously, a great weekend in our Club Championship aspirations with the club now moving to 5th on the table. This week, we close out the Round Robin against Randwick. Grade at Coogee, Colts at home. Needless to say, this week is massive. The only thing better than playing Randwick is beating Randwick. Many of you will have noticed a number of players starting to return from injury. This puts selections under pressure so everyone needs to work bloody hard at training to make sure you impress. The club is going extremely well due to your hard work. Keep it going and let’s make a real statement this week. Sean Murphy Rugby Director SDRC
