Round 5 Colts vs Norths Round Up
The weekend trip to North Sydney proved to be a bridge too far regarding results and we left with 3 tough loses and bragging rights to Norths. Normally I would do a summary on each game but I think it would be better to summarize my thoughts as a Colts Group. Walking away on Saturday I was disappointed with no wins but what I am seeing is improvement and good improvement. We have some game issues that are being addressed by the coaches and players and we can go either forward or backwards and this will be determined by our attitude as a group. I believe the mantra for being a colts coach is about coaching players not managing players and this is what we are trying to do, some messages are hard to take but the players are doing really well and the attitude and commitment needs to be applauded and we will get through this blimp and come out of in a much stronger position. I believe all 3 sides can make the top 6 and by the time the finals roll around we will be firing. The current competition is really only played to see who makes the finals and in what position. The real competition then starts. The players are putting in the effort on the training field and the playing field with a number of players doing extras with Junior at his gym and the passion is there. We need to also understand the past 2 weeks we have played strong clubs and it's not as if we are losing to mug teams. We need to stick together as a tight group and keep working away and we win as a group and we lose as a group. This week we have Eastwood at Fort Forshaw so it doesn't get any easier but we will be ready. I would like to announce our new Colts Mascot, Jacky Jacky the baby Kangaroo that Damian Johnston's family brought down on the weekend from their farm. Jacky Jacky is a one eyed Joey that was abandoned and has been adopted by the Johnston's and had a great time at the footy on Saturday being the centre of attention and is a true one eyed supporter of Southern Districts Colts.
