Workplace Law commit to the Rebelettes 7s for season 2019
Southern Districts Rugby Club is thrilled to announce leading Sydney law firm, Workplace Law as the Major Sponsor for the Rebelettes 7s upcoming 2019 domestic rugby season.
With women’s rugby in Australia seeing substantial and continued growth in participation since Australia’s gold medal heroics at the 2016 Olympic Games, the acquisition of Workplace Law to the Rebelettes 7s program is a ground-breaking step for Southern Districts, given it is the first time a major sponsor has aligned specifically with the club’s women’s team.
The timing of the partnership was ideal for the Rebelettes. Hot off the back of consecutive finals wins in the Scone Women’s 7s Tournament in November 2018 and recently taking out the prestigious Lake Macquarie 7s in late February, the side is less than two weeks away from competing in one of the world’s most prestigious tournaments, the Borneo 7s, where they will be taking on many national teams from right across the world.
Rebelettes 7s Head Coach Chris Nay believes Workplace Law is exactly the right partner for the team. “Workplace Law is a fantastic addition to both the Southern Districts and Rebelettes 7s rugby family. To have our team now aligned with such a leading and progressive organisation, clearly looking to make a positive change and difference is a huge step in the right direction. The girls have worked super hard for this opportunity and this partnership is a just reward for how they have handled themselves both on and off the field- they were ecstatic with the announcement.” said Nay.
“We are delighted to have the support of Workplace Law and look forward to working with them throughout the season” Nay continued.
Workplace Law’s Director, Shane Koelmeyer reciprocated Nay’s sentiments. “We see so much potential in this partnership. Since being introduced to the Rebelettes, we were blown away by the tenacity and hard-working nature of the group. They have worked exceptionally hard with little financial support at all to achieve what they have so far, they are an inspirational team and making a real difference in the community. We are hopeful that our support will provide the means to push these girls into the next phase of their development, whilst continuing to provide young women from right across the region with a pathway to participate at an elite level of rugby 7s. We are passionate about creating opportunities for women in sport and we very much look forward to partnering with the Rebelettes 7s for the 2019 season.” said Koelmeyer.
